Our Stimulation
Distributed stimulation with unequal interpulse
intervals to compensate for unequal twitches
- Proposal is to change the Rack and Westbury scheme by
adjusting the "phase angles" of the different inputs to compensate
for the unequal tension contributions of the inputs.
Diagrammatic distributor with unequally spaced
contacts to produce optimal stimulation.

Simulation of unequal twitches with optimised
intervals. Note that the smaller twitches are closer together than
the larger ones. The black broken line is a sinusoid of the
stimulation frequency fitted to the simulated tension trace, showing
the virtual absence of the fundamental component or tension
ripple.
- If this timing can be adjusted dynamically, then changing
tension contributions can be accommodated.
- An algorithm is needed to find the optimum phases, or at least
improve them, allowing an iterative optimisation.
