The effect of mucle fibre
type on eccentric exercise damage.
Conclusions
- When the same range of sarcomere lengths are involved, muscle
damage is independent of fibre type.
- Previous reports of fibre type differences are probably due to
either;
- Different activation of different fibre type in whole
animal experiments,
- Different fibre types in the same muscle working over
different parts of the length-tension curve.
- Different length-tension curves may be due to different
training.
- This is in accord with sarcomere
non-uniformity explanations of eccentric exercise
damage.
