ECSE Departmental Research Seminar on Friday 24 - 11 - 2006
Title: "Narrowband Interference Mitigation in OFDM Systems"
Speaker: Khaizuran Abdullah, E&CSE, Monash University
Abstract:
OFDM has become popular for modulation technique because it is robust to multipath fading. However, the performance of OFDM becomes degraded when narrowband interference is present. This narrowband interference which may be generated from unlicensed radio spectrum systems such as garage door openers or cordless telephones resides in OFDM spectrum. This report also discusses narrowband interference in optical OFDM. This narrowband interference produced by an articial light such as incandescent or fluorescent light also resides in OFDM spectrum which may degrade OFDM performance. Thus, the work for this research focuses on the development of mitigation techniques to suppress the narrowband interference.
