Introduction
Dr. Jean Armstrong
is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering
(ECSE), Monash
University.
Dr. Armstrong's
other duties include serving as the Research Director
of
ECSE. She also serves as the Chair of the Course Review
Committee, and Research and Postgraduate Studies
Committee.
Her main research interests are in Digital Communications,
particularly Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Engineering Education and Women in
Engineering. She holds a number of patents in OFDM based communications systems.
Recently, her work
(with Prof. A. Lowery) has led to the development of a new method of
transmitting data over optical links at very high speed and won The
Peter Doherty prize for innovation at the Commercialization
Expo 2006.
Her current
research projects focus on the various theoretical and practical aspects Optical
OFDM, MIMO-OFDM and PCC-OFDM.
