Australian visa requirements
Information about Australian visa requirements

Students can also seek visa application assistance from a Monash approved agent.
Students who come to Australia on a student
visa must have the primary purpose of studying and must undertake study on
a full time
basis. Student visas do not initially provide for the holder to be granted
permission to work in Australia. Students and their dependants will only be
able to apply for a student visa with the right to work after they arrive
in Australia and have commenced their course of study. Generally, students
and their dependants are limited to 20 hours work per week while the student's
course of study or training is in session. Students may work full-time during
holiday periods. A student visa is subject to mandatory cancellation if a student works in excess of
their entitlement.
Any school age dependants accompanying the
holder of a student visa to Australia are required to pay full fees if they
enrol in either a government or non-government school. For information about
studying in Australia and schools fees visit the Study in Australia website.
You must have Overseas Student Health Cover
(OSHC) for yourself and your family while you are in Australia. This is a
condition of your student visa. You must pay the health care fee before your
visa can be issued and you must renew your health cover every year. Monash
University uses Worldcare Assist as its registered health insurance provider.
Worldcare Assist offers two levels of cover, both of which include basic covers.
